Discipleship and mission both occur most effectively within the context of community. A Christian without a community around them will not develop or serve as effectively as they were created to! We need others!
Encounter community groups are deeply founded upon the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and this foundation of grace is essential for growth in authenticity and honesty. As we dig deeper into the message of the gospel, we will forgive better, love better, bear one another’s burdens, be patient, etc.
Encounter community groups have a multiplicity of leadership. The “up” leader focuses on the vertical relationship with God by emphasizing and prioritizing prayer; the “in” leader leads the discussion or Bible study time for the group; the “out” leader focuses on serving those outside the group and coordinating the mission. Each group must live together on mission to prevent the groups from becoming self-righteous, self-focused cliques. We also model Jesus better to others in missionally focused groups. Our community groups are always adding new members. All of the groups are open continually and will multiply when and if needed.
If you are interested in joining a community group or if you would like more information about a group, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back with you.
There are youth, college-aged groups, in addition to multiple mixed age groups.
